PATTERN HOUSE

Architect: Milk Architecture & Design

Taking its name from the original Ingersol pattern factory that it was built for, this iconic Clerkenwell building is now a collection of spacious loft apartments. Our Graphic Designer client wanted to mix the industrial backdrop with colourful reminders from her Brazilian home.

With our clever builders we opened up the existing cellular apartment to restore large lateral spaces and give views through the flat to the generous crittall windows. Wide sliding doors, scaffold storage solutions and a workbench style kitchen reference the building’s industrial past and facilitate open plan living.

A simple palette of oak floors and raw materials unify the interiors, while breezy bathrooms, porous textures and boldly patterned ceramics bring Brazilian warmth to this a sunny Islington home.
