urban sanctuary
Architect: Milk Architecture & Design
Our clients owned two adjacent flats that occupied a single floor in a modern Shoreditch building. They asked us to combine to the flats into one bright spacious apartment that would let daily life flow seamlessly.
One flat had already been refurbished and accommodated the client during the works. The other flat was re-modelled to provide the main entrance hall, and a sequence of spaces that connected kitchen, living, dining and sleeping along one window lined axis. Carefully dressed steel framed glazing allowed the spaces to flow together but also be enclosed for separate tasks and privacy.
Reeded timber panelling and walk in storage added warmth and order to the inner rooms and two sanctuary bathrooms completed the sense of retreat from the city.
